On the positive side, there was a lovely and quite spacious garden, probably nice to use in summer when the weather is warm and sunny - we were not lucky in that respect. The location itself was quiet. The kitchen was also well-equipped and a nice baby cot was available. The owners seemed quite friendly. By the way, there's a good boulangerie around the corner for the croissants and baguettes.
However, we were slightly disappointed with our choice of holiday home. Why? There was a naphthalene-like smell (ok, it's an old house, but still...);
the house was difficult to heat at the end of May, so we were freezing; on the second day ants appeared throughout the house and especially in the kitchen (which was considered completely normal by the owners); and finally, the extra charges for energy were calculated in a somewhat shady way.
We had also underestimated the remoteness of the village from bigger roads, so we found ourselves spending a long time to get around in the region (e.g., over 2h for a 100km ride). If you want to go further than a few castles in the vicinity and have limited time, that may be a problem.
Cordialement
